How do I request a physical book?

Physical books from our Main Collection that are allowed to circulate (be borrowed) may be requested via our library catalog, BobCat. Please refer to our guide on How to Put a Book on Hold. Books that have a status of Non-circulating/Library Use Only or Non-circulating/SpecCol (Special Collections), as well as Course Reserves, may not be requested through BobCat and the request option will not appear.

Normally, books that are requested are processed and put on hold behind the NYSID circulation desk and an automatic email is sent out when the request is processed. Please note that during COVID-19, requests will take longer to process and will be “delivered” via locker pickup. As with our automated emails, you will need to hear back from the library that your request has been processed before making a trip to NYSID.
